As our Annual General Meeting approaches on 29 August 2009, to be held at Beau Monde International in Doncaster my time as President is coming to a close.  To my committee I send a heartfelt thank you for the time and effort they have put in over the past 12 months. To the members who have put forward their names to stand on the committee for 2009/2010, I wish you well and congratulate you in advance.

To give everyone variety and enjoyable events, Crown Coaches Social Club needs participation by its members and their friends. I encourage anyone to come and try one of our outings, often things turn out very unexpectedly, like our boat cruise around Corio Bay. Terrible weather, the gangplank lost over the side and morning tea in the wind and the rain. We could have sat at home and watched television but it would not have been so exciting.

Come, join the Social club and enjoy life and friendship.

S.P.C. ARDMONA, MOOROOPNA – Sunday 24 May 2009.

Every seat on the coach was filled with day-trippers, bargain hunters and shopaholics. The weather was kind to us with a cold but sunny day, good for an outing. Our first stop was at Nagambie for morning tea. When we arrived at SPC we could either shop or have lunch or vice versa. Most people chose to shop, trolleys at the ready.

The coach was packed to the limit (some space was left for the wine) then off to the winery for afternoon tea, wine tasting and trying to fill what space was left on the coach, with wine.

The coach groaned its way back to Norcal Road under the guidance of BOB McDONALD.

CROWN CASINO TRIP – Sunday 21 June 2009.

Thirty seven members and friends travelled by coach to Crown Casino. Most started their day with a complimentary coffee or hot chocolate. With five different venues to use their $14 food voucher, they checked out the facilities or found the lights, bells and whistles of the machines too hard to resist. The market at Princes Bridge, aquarium and the Arts Centre seemed the most popular places if the pokies did not appeal. Some members of the group had a few extra dollars in their pockets and Barbara Rooney won a drink voucher for her next visit.

A safe return home thanks to BEN NAZEMAINPOUR and his safe driving.

BILLY ELLIOT – THE MUSICAL - Sunday 13 June 2009.

Our coach delivered us to “Her Majesty’s Theatre” to see a most enjoyable musical, Billy Elliot.  Lots of singing and dancing which followed the story of the movie of the same title.

A big thank you to ADRIAN NYE for driving the coach.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY - Sunday 19 July 2009.

Our members and friends, who could not wait for December 25th to come, set off to The Pig and Whistle Tavern in the Dandenongs, to celebrate Christmas in July.  The reports back to me claimed the food was plentiful and very enjoyable, the entertainment provided by Geoff enthralled Crown Coaches members and the rest of the diners. Santa left some presents and the venue was decorated in the Christmas spirit, not much room for dancing but the room was cozy and warm to offset the cold weather outside.

Well worth another visit – just for the food.

THE DINNER  GROUP .

JOHN ASHTON has started up a Dinner Group. Anyone interested in going out to dinner with a few workmates once a month, are most welcome.
The first outing saw eleven takers visit “QUAN 88” in Abbotsford.

For future venues and times please keep an eye on the notice board in the staff room and place your name and contact phone number on the list if you wish to attend.

MEMBERSHIP DRAW.

All financial members as at 31 July 2009 will be eligible for a refund on their membership.

This draw will take place at the Annual General Meeting on 29 August 2009.

END OF TERM SAUSAGE SIZZLE – Friday 26 June 2009.

Hope all staff enjoyed the sausage sizzle supplied by Management and the Social Club.

FOOTY TIPPING 2009.

As at Friday 14 August, the leaders in the footy tipping competition are Anton B and Barbara Moffat.  They have finally knocked John Dean off the top of the ladder….but for how long?
