“VIBES”.

FEBRUARY EDITION 2010 .

Welcome Back Everyone!

ANNUAL CHILDRENS CHRISTMAS PARTY – SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER 2009.

The day dawned windy and cold with threatening showers. The committee members trecked to Funfields to begin setting up for Santa’s arrival. Let’s say the pictures of the marquee being erected will never be seen – possibly they got blown away with the instructions????

At 11.00am, with carols playing in the background, 146 eager party goers swarmed thru the gates, claimed a spot and headed for the rides. Just like magic, 2 elves and 3 fairies appeared to entertain those who were willing. There were balloon animals, face painting and tattoos to amuse the young and not so young alike. A treasure hunt for all including babes in arms delighted many.

At 12.30pm we all lined up to be served our yummy spit roast lunch, which was devoured with much glee.

With the weather threatening to drown us out, Santa decided to pay his visit early. With his bell ringing loudly and the children singing beautifully, he rocked up in a golf buggy, bulging with presents for each child.

After Santa departed, many parents settled in for a quiet afternoon of socialising ,most children disappeared to have fun on the various rides and those who remained settled in for a nap.

In all a truly fantastic day – even the weather didn’t dampen the spriits.

A big thank you to the following:

Andrew Frith – Loan of the Red Suit

Bob McDonald – The Man in the Red Suit

Clive Angus - Balloon Animal Elf

Chris Bell and Ray Gardner – For transporting our guests safely to and from the venue.

CFA Scoresby – Use of Santa’s chair and present bags.

THE DINNER GROUP.

THE CUCKOO – FRIDAY 11 DECEMBER 2009.This venue say 30 guests, venture mostly by bus for a truly fantastic night. After filling our plates several times and some good wine, we all settled in to watch the floorshow.

Thankyou to John Ashton for organizing another great evening and to Kylie Foulger for driving the party goer’s.

 AUGUST EDITION 2009 .

As our Annual General Meeting approaches on 29 August 2009, to be held at Beau Monde International in Doncaster my time as President is coming to a close.  To my committee I send a heartfelt thank you for the time and effort they have put in over the past 12 months. To the members who have put forward their names to stand on the committee for 2009/2010, I wish you well and congratulate you in advance.

To give everyone variety and enjoyable events, Crown Coaches Social Club needs participation by its members and their friends. I encourage anyone to come and try one of our outings, often things turn out very unexpectedly, like our boat cruise around Corio Bay. Terrible weather, the gangplank lost over the side and morning tea in the wind and the rain. We could have sat at home and watched television but it would not have been so exciting.

Come, join the Social club and enjoy life and friendship.

MOONEE VALLEY TROTS NIGHT   -   Saturday 21st March 2009.

To cater for our punters and gamblers, our March social club outing was to Moonee Valley Trotting Meeting.  Not many of us made our fortune though one member managed to have a win in each race.

Thank you to MICHAEL ELKINS for being our driver for the night and getting us home safely.

FREEDOM BAY CRUISE   -   Sunday 26th April 2009.

The Social Club charted the Freedom Bay cruises, catamaran for 3 hours, giving us two , one and a half hour cruises to accommodate all our eager sailors. The lovely summer, sunny autumn days had to come to an end  sometime but did it have to be the day of our cruise around Corio Bay. The forecast was for strong winds, rain, hail and extreme cold. Unfortunately the weather man got it right for once! Our Social Club members are made of strong stuff and dressed warmly, ready for anything.

At 9.00am our first coach set off, shortly followed by Coach 2. Both coaches were buffeted by strong gusts of wind and rain on our way to Geelong and some travelers were wondering if they had made the right choice to come. Coach 1 were on board the catamaran when Coach 2 arrived. Passengers on Coach 2 were given morning tea as we huddled under a shelter in the wind and rain to wave goodbye as the others sailed  away toward the white capped waves and very grey skies. The catamaran did return to find the gangplank had fallen into the water. So having survived their trip they now had to abandon ship by jumping from the boat to the wharf. This did not stop Coach 2 passengers from wanting to sail and they boarded the boat by jumping on. Once aboard it was warm, dry and amazingly not rough. We even had a hot drink served to us. Some members decided to go for a long lunch rather than take their chances on the boat. Everyone who braved the boat trip saw Geelong from a different angle, were surprised at the stability of the boat and were happy they had taken the trip.

With two hours to spare everyone dispersed to find lunch, a dry warm spot to hang out or explore. Four o’clock saw us on our way home before the football crowds—GEELONG was playing at home.

Thank you to FRANK GALLEY and BOB McDONALD for driving in trying weather conditions  - the coaches rocked and swayed more than the boat.

SEE YOU ALL NEXT TIME—ALWAYS EXPECT A FEW SURPRISES!
